Gator Dredging Meet and Greet
At Shawn McCann’s house.
Gator Dredging requested meeting with Ski Watch HOA and LIC members. The meeting took place at Shawn McCann’s house. This was not an official Ski Watch HOA Board meeting and no issues were proposed or voted on. It was strictly and information exchange between Ski Watch HOA and Gator Dredging.
Attendance: Shawn
McCann, Phil Gallmeier, Jim Harwood, Mike Trabold, Frank Harwood, George
Pichel, Chuck McCall, Ben Bowen, Tom Johnson, and Jeff Harber.
Discussions:
Questions were asked regarding the approach used to survey the lakes. The survey would occur in increments of 100 feet along the length of the lakes with survey occurring at XXX across the lake. The survey would log location and the depth at which hardpan was reached.
The survey data will then be processed and a detailed engineering package will be delivered to Ski Watch HOA indicating the depths of the sediment and the hardpan which in turn will indicate how much material will need to be removed.
Frank H. asked when we would need the letter of permission from the McKenzies. Answer was mid-way through the permitting process. Gator indicated that the desired location of the spoils area to the North would be ideal.
Frank asked about removal of the “gunk” from near the shoreline
need more description without compromising the
shore “break” area which might
lead to erosion. They said a stream of water could be used to blast
the stuff from near the shore and into the deeper water so the dredge
wouldn't have to get too close to the shore.
Asked about the mobilization cost to get the equipment in place. The estimate was $25,000 to mobilize and do the retention
ponds, step 1.
George asked if the missing slalom course anchor pipes would impact the dredge, they said no, they have chopped up boats before and other hard objects. I asked some questions about needing a second pump and the man- power required to man it. They said they would need a second pump because of the distance. They said it would be mostly rigid pipe with hose at the dredge. I also asked if the dredge water would return to the lake and they said yes.
They laid out an approximate timeline--how many months to do whole job. They said the actual dredging would take one month on each lake, so about six months.
